About the Program
The Vital Mind Program at Hydrate Wellness Centre is innovative and uniquely collaborative. It is an integrative medicine initiative designed to optimize cognitive wellbeing. This program brings together a general internist, (an MD who is both a a geriatric medicine specialist and a functional medicine-certified physician), a team of experienced Naturopathic Physicians, as well as other interdisciplinary team members to deliver a professional scienced-backed approach to the prevention and treatment of cognitive decline. It is tailored to an individual’s mental, emotional, hormonal, physical and metabolic needs.

Eligibility for Referral
Individuals with subjective concerns regarding their cognitive abilities will need to be referred to the program by their general practitioner or nurse practitioner. Objective documentation of cognitive decline is not required prior to referral. The program focuses on supporting those who are experiencing potential or perceived changes in their cognitive function, regardless of whether these changes have been formally identified or measured.

Who can benefit from the program:

Individuals in this category experience subjective concerns about declining concentration, impaired short-term memory, or any perceived changes in cognition. These concerns may exist with or without accompanying emotional or physical issues.

This group includes individuals dealing with other concurrent conditions, such as post-COVID concerns, chronic fatigue syndrome, irritable bowel syndrome, fibromyalgia, or complex PTSD. Brain fog is one aspect of their symptoms and is typically accompanied by signs of general inflammation and other health issues.

Individuals who are worried about developing dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, fall under this group. They may or may not have a family history of dementia. These individuals have subjective concerns about their cognitive health and may have confirmed mild cognitive impairment (MCI) but do not exhibit significant functional decline.
General program outline:

Month 1: Initial visits are typically 60-75 minutes and includes a comprehensive cognitive/medical intake , review of systems, (memory, focus, mood , sleep, fatigues), medical history + medication review, ordering of conventional blood work and prescription decisions (if clinically indicated).
Month 3: Mid-point review, 45-60 minutes. Review of progress, retesting if required, prescription refills, schedule 6 month review and health goals.
Month 6: Final exam, assessment on improvements and long-term plan with recommended check ins and medication reviews.

Length: First ND visit , 60 minutes + 3 follow-up visits, 45 minutes each.
What is included in each visit: functional cognitive symptom tracking *review of labs+functional testing * supplement strategy adjustments * custom IV therapy recommendations * lifestyle, sleep, stress, gut-brain support * cognitive performance progress review

Nutritionist (2 sessions , 60 and 30 minutes per visit): Includes dietary intake review, Cognitive-supportive nutrition strategy, blood sugar stability, anti-inflammatory focus, brain-fuel timing, written recommendations.
Exercise therapy (2 sessions, 60 minutes per session) Focuses on: Gentle cognitive-supportive movement, balance/ coordination strategies, stress reduction, metabolic health, daily movement prescription
additional program components:

45–60 minutes per IV (including prep)
(Exact formulation depends on customized formula determined by ND)
Common components:
• Hydration base (saline)
• B-complex
• Vitamin C
• Magnesium
• Amino acids
IV therapy is used to support hydration, nutrient repletion, mitochondrial energy, and nervous system resilience.

These are functional tests that will assess blood, urine and/or saliva markers of:
• Cognitive domains (proteins and peptides found in cognitive decline)
